To promote social health and mental well being during these worrying times and try to help those most affected.

The walking rugby team have now been formed for 1 year and we now have over 25 members. We train every Sunday in the pouring rain and sunshine giving us all the opportunity to interact and chat with a sense of comradery that comes from a team based sporting activity.  We have players in their 40s and up into their 80s at the moment and expect this to grow with the popularity of this low impact game geared for the older generation. We have played 4 games both home and away with Esher RFC and Burgess Hill RFC and the enjoyment of all was immense both during and after the games. The group is designed to provide the possibility for the older, and possibly isolated individuals, to interact within a group of like minded friends and team mates and aid in mental well being and physical mobility. One of our founder members tends to take a warm up employing known techniques to promote balance and core strength. Seaford rugby football club support us in every possible way with soup and bread and hydration to be consumed over a good old fashioned chat. We have just been contacted from a local health care professional to recommend this project to isolated individuals  which has not as yet been confirmed and rolled out but an ongoing avenue. The donated money would be used to finance food, tea, coffee and juice for members. Shirts to help with an identity that members can feel proud to be part of and wear the shirt with pride around the town and equipment for aiding in physical activity with in the older generation.
