HELP US SAY THANK YOU TO OUR KEY WORKERS & NHS HEROES
At Museums Northumberland we are truly grateful to Northumberland's amazing key workers and NHS staff and we want to say a huge thank you for being on the front line during the COVID-19 crisis.
Through a new partnership with the NHS, the money raised will purchase Annual Passes to donate to key workers and staff at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust Foundation.
We are working hard to find a way to open Woodhorn Museum safely, and when we do, we want to provide these amazing people with an opportunity to enjoy quality time with their loved ones, space to relax and the chance to immerse themselves in something away from the pressures of work.
After what has been a hugely stressful period, a visit to Woodhorn Museum will improve the mental health and wellbeing of those who've battled on the front line during the COVID-19 pandemic.
ABOUT WOODHORN MUSEUM
Woodhorn brings to life Northumberland’s proud mining heritage, alongside an ever-changing contemporary arts and event programme – making it a fun and cultural day out for all the family.
Explore the historic colliery buildings and travel through time and take a journey through Coal Town. The museum is proud home to the Ashington Group Collection of artworks – known as the ‘Pitmen Painters’. This iconic display showcases what daily life was really like for miners in and around Ashington from the 1930s. It is reputed to be the first collection of amateur art to go on permanent display anywhere in the world.
"Art matters because it frees your mind from the everyday"
"75% of people who take part in cultural activities feel a significant improvement in their wellbeing"

Please join us in saying thank you and donate now to allow us to give free Annual Passes to Northumberland's amazing key workers and NHS staff.
The more we raise the more key workers and NHS heroes we can welcome to our museum when we are able to open our doors again. The funds we raise will also help us at Museums Northumberland, ourselves a registered charity, through our biggest challenge to date due to lockdown and help us thrive into the future.
The Annual Passes will be distributed to the staff, volunteers and care workers at Wansbeck Hospital and Cramlington (our closest key workers) and other key workers who've been on the frontline during the COVID-19 crisis.
- An Annual Pass to Woodhorn Museum costs just £7 per adult
- Children aged 16 years and under and carers FREE.
- Concessions £6.50
Your donation will provide a key worker and their family with FREE admission and unlimited repeat visits to Woodhorn Museum for 12 months from when we reopen.
