We're looking for support to help us grow EdFest into the largest environmental festival in South West England. All money raised through crowdfunding will be used towards helping EdFest become a free event for schools.
Did you know that the UK uses approximately 15 million plastic bottles every day? It is estimated that approximately 70% of all plastic is used for ‘single use’ items such as bottles, food packaging and drinking straws. If we continue on this track, it is estimated that the world’s oceans will contain more plastic weight than fish by 2050. Despite increased efforts in recycling, this addiction is having a devastating impact on biodiversity. Furthermore, pollution is one of the biggest global killers, affecting over 100 million people. But, what are we doing about it? The UK has signed up to The Paris Climate Agreement and The Lisbon Treaty. These are worldwide commitments dreamt up by politicians and will take years to make an impact. However, we believe that the time to act is now. The only way to achieve a less polluted and better place for our children in the future, is through all of us taking responsibility for a cleaner and healthier climate.
EdFest SouthWest believes in a bottom-up approach to raising environmental awareness. By working with teachers and parents, we want to EDUCATE, ENGAGE and INSPIRE young people to take action and make a difference in helping to save our planet. Our annual festival will bring together some of the UK's most leading and prominent organisations to deliver a day packed with interesting content, stimulating workshops and interactive zones designed for both adults and children.
The theme of the festival will mean that those who attend, will leave with a better understanding of the many ways in which they can do their part to get involved in caring for our environment on a local and global scale. We like to promote the idea that just one small change today can help to protect the future of our planet for generations to come.
