Leigh has a history to be proud of. Thomas Highs had the skills to match his dream to build a machine capable of mass weaving. His work and toil is still today not fully appreciated, he was a Leyther who was robbed of many of his achievements, he was the man who helped start the industrial revolution Linking the words Wigan's heritage to Leigh is a travesty and needs to stop.

So important we preserve our heritage even though I may not live in Leigh now it is still where I was born and still call home. My mum worked at the Alder until she retired and had many good friends there. Wonderful people who are continuing to keep the memories alive.

This is a great community-led idea. I love that were helping to restore the mill and use this for the community and our children as a resource, well done John & Francine xx
