Tower sold at auction - but not to campaign
As you may have heard by now, the control tower has been sold. Regrettably, the alternate funding secured by the Save Winkleigh Tower campaign was ultimately not enough to prevent it from being sold elsewhere. Therefore, all the money raised by this Crowdfunder Project will be donated to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal as soon as possible. We would like to invite all of you to attend this event and will supply more details as soon as we have confirmed a date with the Royal British Legion.
Your project rewards are being gathered together and will be posted out to you once the Crowdfunder project funds are released to us (as per our agreement with the Royal British Legion). I’d like to take this opportunity to personally thank each and every one of you for your support. It has meant a lot to both me and the campaign team, and it will not be forgotten.
The campaign to restore RAF Winkleigh’s Control Tower is not going away. Not only are we happy to work with the new owner in restoring the tower if they so desire, but we also intend to carry on our work highlighting the extraordinary contribution made by RAF Winkleigh and all who worked there. Therefore, we’re holding an open meeting in Winkleigh, and everyone with an interest in seeing this historic scheduled monument restored to her former glory is welcome to attend. If you are interested in attending this open meeting, please email [email protected]
Once again, thank you for all your support, and we'll keep you updated on our progress.
