Tierra Linda is a place in the Peruvian Amazon Jungle, it means beautiful land in English because it is. Our aim is to avoid the use of hunting and deforestation in Tierra Linda by providing better ways of making a living.
Natives in the jungle haven't got the job choices and advantages we have in modern day society, they make their money through cutting down trees and hunting the animals and its destroying the ecosystem. The Amazon Jungle influences world climate and the circulation of ocean currents which is why it's important to look after it.
Alternative ways for the people of Tierra Linda to make money is to be tour guides, not only would it boost the economy but it would also be giving the ecosystem an opportunity to grow again. I spent a couple of weeks here doing jungle conservation and teaching English to the children in a nearby town. What I didn't realise is that in this small community there's a brothel and it disturbs me to think that the young girls I got to know in a short space of time might eventually have no other option but to result in having to take up jobs there.
Tierra Linda is small but it was visited by Malia Obama a few years back! Yet the Peruvian government doesn't financially support this land in the jungle and so this is my contribution in hope that Tierra Linda can have an opportunity.
I'm looking to raise funds to improve the ecosystem and to give natives ways to improve their community. 100% of the money that is raised goes directly towards this cause.
Any donation is much appreciated!
