The Unicorn Camden Live is part of a national initiative launched by the Music Venue Trust to prevent the closure of 100s of independent music venues.
Who are we?
The Unicorn has long been a stand alone, grass roots music venue serving not just the local Camden and Holloway underground music scene but has a reputation for accommodating touring artistes from all over the world. Run with passion and love by a small team of music lovers (many of them musicians themselves) we have always been the destination venue for music lovers .
We have a particular appeal to the “alternative” audience and strive to welcome and give a platform for new talent as well as established artistes.
Why we might have to close?
We have been locked down like everyone else since mid March – the bills have continued to pile up and we already were running on a shoestring prior to Covid 19.. The large monthly overheads, including rates, insurance and utility bills need to be to paid, and sadly has got to the point when we can no longer absorb these costs and so closure could become a consideration. More than this we need to protect the livelihoods of the staff , many of whom are self employed and obviously can not do their jobs with the doors closed
How can you help and where will your donations go?
Your donation , however small will go towards covering the mounting expenses that are occurring during what for us could be a 7 month (or longer) lockdown which apart from bills and contributions to staff will help us get ready to re-open under social distancing rules – once (if) they are revised to a safe and financially viable level by the Government
If we hit our target, and we can prevent the closure of our venue, everything above the amount we need will be donated to the Music Venue Trust GMV Crisis Fund to protect other venues just like ours, right across the country.
Thanking you for you continuing support of The Unicorn Camden Live
