The Palace Cinema Longridge is up for Sale!!
The Cinema has been owned by a local family for over 40 years and Dorothy is now planning to retire.
The Palace, which seats an audience of 193, sarted life as a weaving shed and during its time has been a music hall, roller skating rink, cinema and bingo hall. The Palace is one of the oldest surviving cinemas in the North West of England.
It was purchased by its present owners in 1976, extensive renovations and extension to the premises were carried out from 1997 to 2000 to upgrade the existing wash rooms (including the installation of facilities for disabled patrons), together with the creation of dressing rooms for use during live shows.
The Cinema has been part of our local community and many of you will have enjoyed the latest hits there ....for some it will have been your first experience of seeing a film on the big screen!
I am trying to raise the funding required to purchase The Palace Cinema, carry out necessary repairs and develop is purpose as a community asset.
Im going to set up this fund under a registered community charity/Community Interest Ltd Company which will be governed by a community committee.
PLEASE NOTE: This is an all or nothing fund. If we do not achieve our target or a private investor takes on the Cinema as an Independent business owner, your generous donation will NOT be taken from your account.
I'm looking for Individuals, local business, community and council support to keep the Cinema alive for many more years to come. This will enable our children and the community to continue to enjoy what it has to offer us and more.
Please Support our campaign. ALL donations however small or large contribute to us meeting our goal and SAVING our beloved Palace Cinema and retaining it in the Community.
Please also contact me through our Facebook page to offer your support.
