The Aristocrat aka The Ari, Aylesbury's last standing iconic music venue is under threat. Rising rents (£1000 per week) and over inflated business rates has put The Ari under very serious threat. We're carrying out a Crowdfund to try to take control of the lease in order to secure The Aristocrat's future for as long as you want to drink & be entertained there.
Hi Guys and welcome to the Aristocrat crowdfunding page..
As you may or may not know for the last two and a half years the Aristocrat has had quite a face-lift in more ways than one.
There have been many many splinters, sleepless nights and days covered in wood chippings, mainly from the sixteen hour sessions on the floor sanders but.. none the less we have put oodles of love and passion into bringing you the Aristocrat that you know and love today...
As our regulars and many alike will know.. there are parts that are “unfinished” ( injoke there re the landlord) ...
Our cosmetic vision for the Aristocrat was something quite different to what had been known previously, while creating a unique cosmopolitan bar within the setting of Aylesbury, we wanted to bring our passion for live music with us, so we focused on this key aspect of our business model by showcasing local bands, it has always been important for us to support up and coming acts on the beginning of their musical journeys, which is something that we have done during our time here so far. The Aristocrat regularly hosts “big band nights” Bustin Loose, N.B.S, Hustler, The Fret heads, Roddy Radiation and the Skabilly rebels, King hammond and the Rude boy mafia, The Observers, and more recently El Bronson, to name a few..
Our time so far we have welcomed bands such as The Callow saints and a Little bit country, who have used the Aristocrat for their music videos to support EP launches and you tube channels.
We also welcomed Birthday Card, Into the South and the Blushes to our stage, again supporting the debut single releases and encouraging their journey onto tours and head lining festivals. A monthly open stage was also put on for artists to showcase their talents.
Our passion still remains and with that we want to be able to support and showcase new and original talent as well as the more established bands. The Aristocrat prides itself on Free Of Charge events to the general public & supporters.. However, over the past couple of years we have come up against a battle with a small group of previous locals trying their absolute hardest to desimate what we have done and are trying to do here, we wanted a safe environment for all ethnicities, sexual orientations and giant orange pandas.. the problem is those involved didn’t take to kindly to that, nor anything else that we have tried to do, to the extent that they have defaced our building, attempted to cancel our bands, events, and left us hundreds of fake reviews, slandered us all over social media, along with complaints to the brewery, of which have fallen on deaf ears "Thank you for your continued support Fullers" and very personalised harassment attacks. This has been ongoing since the day they chose to leave the Aristocrat and continued throughout our pregnancy and our babies being in the Neonatal intensive care unit. We are sure that this campaign will bring about another round of this abhorrent harassment and attempted sabotage, but we WILL continue and fight on, and we just ask you all to make your own minds up about the Aristocrat, based on what you have seen and know. Please bear in mind that this group of people are the minority, and the level of support from our regulars, far outweighs this..
We hate to bring this up, but in reality it has made life quite difficult and almost made us make the decision to sell.. but we have seen the light and the support from you guys and it is absolutely overwhelming..
Now, with the unbelievably sad closure of other music venues in this town, and the disbelief from the occupants that Live music in Aylesbury is dwindling.. let’s pull together and “keep it Live” Live music is not about to die in Aylesbury if we have anything to do with it.
Our Family has done everything in its power to keep this going, but we have now exhausted all of our options , ploughing ALL of our money into the respective make-over and events so far, combined with the ever increasing rents and rates from the Brewery and the government bodies.
We have now found ourself in a little pickle.. we owe money to the brewery and this is putting The Aristocrat under threat..but this can be solved with a little help from all you music lovers out there.. Live music venues and social venues NEED SUPPORT.. up and down the country pubs and venues are closing daily..
So if we pull together, we can make Aylesbury great for live music again, many years of great acts and a rich tapestry of live events has put Aylesbury on the map. Your support will ensure the future of the Aristocrat and help to put new and established acts on the stage.. but we can only do this for as long as we have your support. Let’s continue to keep the “free entry events” and do something great..
Support us in any way you can, if £1 is all you can afford, that would be great and we are eternally grateful. We have set up a few rewards for those with a little more to spare, ranging from discounts on your drinks to naming the music hall. For the cost of a pint you could be saving this beautiful building, keeping the live music acts in business in this local area, keeping the Ari alive & kicking.
WHAT'S THE ALTERNATIVE TO AN UNSUCCESSFUL CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN??
Well, it's actually quite bleak, the Ari will revert back to it's former decor, the Aristocrat branding will be revoked and the brewery will take back control. Live music may or may not continue, dependent on if its made into a managed house or handed over to a temporary third party. It would break our hearts to undo all of the hard work, not only because of the expense and labour, monetary value in fixtures & fittings would be squashed and a terrible sense of letting down all of our staff, our regular community, bands and dj's and generally all of the support that we have received over the past few years.
Last year we had twins and decided to put the Aristocrat on the market, as we felt exhausted with the sleepless nights and commitments that running a pub/ live music venue hold.. however, it is with much thought and delight that we have decided that we would love to remain running the Aristocrat, keeping a safe, clean environment for our regular community, live music and private functions, but we want to expand...
Thank you for taking the time to read this, please support your local music venue and keep Aylesbury's Live Music Scene Alive & Kicking
