TRANSFORM THE OUTSIDE SPACE OF PEDMORE C OF E PRIMARY SCHOOL!
You walk through the gates and onto the playground in the morning, you play on the playground during your break time, you have your PE lessons on the playground and then you leave via the playground at the end of the school day. The importance of the playground is often underestimated. As a school community of parents, teaching staff, grandparents and carers, we have chosen to commit this year’s fundraising to transform our outside space. The children truly deserve a wonderful area to play, enjoy and learn in.
We want to install a better organised playground, to include a range of activities that be motivating them to be physically active as well as developing motor, cognitive and social skills. We’re hoping the wider community will rally to support this much needed project. The playground is the first thing that visitors see when they come to Pedmore C of E Primary. We’d love to create a better first impression.
Being able to play cooperatively in an outside, unstructured environment empowers children, and teaches them to work cooperatively in the classroom as well. Current facilities are outdated, not much fun and are in desperate need of a makeover. The current playground surface is old tarmac so does not offer a good base for any new playground markings. There are only a few play items on the playground currently that don’t meet standards we strive for and where safety improvements are required.
Within our school community we have formed a group of volunteers who have donated their time to repainting the fence panels and playhuts, clearing the leaves and cutting back the trees to make a brighter, light space for the children. We will use these volunteers to prepare the playground for installations and to maintain the equipment so it will last for several years to come. What we need now is the equipment to bring our playground back to life.
For this project we would love to be able to fund the purchase and installation of a low level trim trail suitable for all the children. This will encourage movement and physical activity during their break time, supporting a healthy active lifestyle. A wooden trim trail over a coloured wet pour safety surface will instantly brighten the playground and bring a new challenge for the children, one they will enjoy time after time. Alongside this we would love to add a wooden 'pick up sticks' climbing frame with a small slide. It would mean so much to everyone involved with the project to win the funding and to see the children playing happily on the new equipment.
We really hope, with your support, that we can begin the journey of creating an exciting outdoor space a reality for our children. We simply cannot do it without this community fundraising project. PLEASE PLEASE SUPPORT US NOW!
