Baby Seth was born with abdominal and cardiac congenital abnormalities, which put simply, means he was born with a hole in his abdomen wall which made his intestines visible. After a very difficult birth, he soon contracted malaria and encountered further suffering. Despite the odds, he survived the malaria attack and the abdominal wall defect, known as exomphalos, has now closed up. However, Seth has been in and out of hospital since the day he was born.
Baby Seth is now 5 months old and is currently fighting infection in both lungs and has been diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia. He has a large patent ductus ateriosus (PDA) and pulmonary stenosis, which is a heart defect and will require Seth to have heart surgery.
He is constantly in and out of hospital which has racked up considerable medical bills for his single mother, which she can no longer afford to pay. This has resulted in him being discharged prematurely just this past weekend. Unfortunately, Seth's home conditions are not ideal for a baby with lung problems as he lives on the side of a dusty road where the pollution levels are high and he is having breathing difficulties.
Despite his many medical ailments, Seth is a little fighter with a strong will to survive. He is due to have heart surgery in December 2018 which we need to help raise money for. The money we are raising will be used to pay for his surgery, hospital fees, as well as his ongoing medical treatment in the hope that Seth will eventually have good health and a better quality of life.
Please help us save this little fighter who has survived against all the odds. We would be most grateful for any support however big or small.
