We are seeking help from the people and businesses of Derby to support our local Champion Sandy Ryan on her way to the 2020 Olympics.

Sandy Ryan from Alvaston, Derby is a true inspiration in female sport and the boxing world. Inspired into boxing from watching her older brother (David Rocky Ryan), she soon took up boxing as a young girl and excelled in it.

From a young age, Sandy has made sacrifices and committed her life to the sport. When her friends were out partying, Sandy was training because she had a dream to make it in the world of boxing. What Sandy has done not only for Derby City, but for our country is an incredible story.

Sandy trained at One Nation Gym in Derby and from there, she has gone on to greatness. On her senior championship debut in 2014, she won a World Championship Silver medal. In 2015 she won gold in the European Games and in 2016 she won the Bronze in the European Championships. More recently in 2018 she brought home the Gold in the Commonwealth Games representing Great Britain. Sandy has told us she is going to keep training hard and her next big ambition is to bring home the Gold in the 2020 Olympics. She explained "I’m going to continue to work hard and give it everything I’ve got to bring home the Gold for my country”.

Sandy is working with local community organisation Sporting Communities to engage with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, who face challenges on a daily basis and have limited positive role models. She is currently looking to set up free community boxing sessions to inspire the next generation of young female boxers that will be free to for the community to access. This crowdfunding will ensure that we can deliver 2 free regular community sessions for disadvantaged young girls.

With your support we can also help to contribute towards Sandy's training expenses, to give her the best chance to bring home the Gold in 2020.
