Our idea is to bring to locals and visitors the very best of Hebridean seafood. Some of the best shellfish in the world is caught in the crystal clear waters of the western isles and we want to serve the very best of it here in Harris from Sam's Seafood Shack. Cooked perfectly but simply we will showcase the very best the local fishermen catch daily with an ever changing menu depending what the boat brings in. Including the seaweed!
We are currently converting an old caravan for Sam's Seafood Shack. It will be a takeaway business using 100% biodegradable containers aiming to be as green as possible. We are aware of the fragile environment we live in and the current necessity to reduce the use of plastics and non biodegradable products. Adding solar panels for the lighting of the "Shack" and composting all food waste will be part of our commitment to the environment.
Seafood has always been a huge passion and a massive part of my 25 years chef career and combining those with setting up my own business by the sea and providing a living for my family has always been a dream.
We already have the caravan and a number of the essential components to fit it out.
The money raised will help towards the renovation and fitting out of the "Shack" and qualified tradesman (gas and electric) to obtain the necessary certificates in time for the busy 2019 season.
Developing a website is essential and I feel needs to be designed professionally and we need our marketing to reach as many people as possible.
We have lived on Harris for just over 2 years and do think Sam's Seafood Shack would be a benefit to the whole island providing a necessary new takeaway in the south of the island for locals all year round and the many visitors.
