Because of Covid-19 all theatre activities have stopped around the country. We are likely to be one of the last organisations to be able to start meeting up again due to the inability of children to socially distance and due to the high risk nature of singing in groups. We have always striven to minimise any and all costs for our members, many of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds. At the moment we are meeting and rehearsing online through Facebook and Zoom, but this has its limits. Due to the delay in feedback though the internet, we are unable to give individual feedback about the children's singing when on group calls.
We want to address this, and give our children and young people the opportunity to develop and grow as performers in a way that many of them would be unable to normally due to financial constraints. We would provide 1-2-1 online singing and music lessons for children with a qualified music teacher. The children and young people would work towards a performance that we would either film or perform live, depending on restrictions. All children will have the opportunity to perform in the show in ways that they are comfortable with - whether that's singing with others, playing in the band or singing solo.
We want to come back with a bang once the pandemic has passed and this is one key way that we will do just that.
