In the words of Beyonce, girls! But we say, runners! And we want to bring a whole universe of running to everyone, whether that’s the steady plodders, the joggers, the run/walkers, the sprinters, the parkrunners, the 10k’ers, the halfers, the marathoners or the ever-so-slightly insane ultra-marathoners.
Runnerverse is the home of all things running, whether you’re just starting out on your running journey or are a seasoned athlete, we’ve got something for everyone.
We're passionate about running and our goal is to spread the running love - bring new members to the running community; encourage those already running to run more or participate in their first, fifth or fiftieth event, help the world experience the benefits that running can bring.
From virtual events to keep those legs ticking over; give you goals; and reward you with some medal bling, to the ideal entry level ultras (no mean feat at 50km), we will offer a wide range of events for all abilities. We have the vision to expand into multidisciplinary events over the coming years, as well as expanding our running community to new countries with overseas events.
We’ve also got access to expert running coaching; advice on nutrition and hydration; loads of gear reviews; tips to help you recover and stay fit and strong; and the latest news from the Runnerverse community. And last but certainly not least, Runnerverse houses a special section for those new to running as well as encouraging that competitive spirit with our corporate packages.
All of our events are trail runs - we understand the power of nature and the positive impact being out among the fields; trees and trails has on our physical and mental health. We’re huge lovers of the countryside and our goal is to help runners explore the outdoors, get fit, healthy and happy.
Not only that, we’ve pledged that all of our events will be as environmentally friendly as possible – there’ll be no single use plastic cups at checkpoints; we’ll reuse and recycle as much as we possibly can; and we’ll ensure we use suppliers who share our values.
We’re here because we need you to get this project off the ground. The Runnerverse team are incredibly passionate about what they do, but we need your help!
We are aiming to raise £10,000 which will fund the building of our website; setting up the online entry system and contribute to the running costs of our first events. In exchange for your support, we’ll be offering rewards that include discounted race entry; a sample “Runnerverse Runnerbox” (containing a selection of items to aid your running enjoyment!); coaching sessions; custom Runnerverse tee’s and buffs; Runnerverse collapsible cups; and more.
What are you waiting for? Pledge now, get those running shoes on and run the Runnerverse!
Runnerverse is the brainchild of me, Laura Mould. I started running just three years ago, after a lifetime of hating running. Why? Well, I wanted to challenge myself to something extreme and totally outside of my comfort zone, and knew I hated running so couldn’t think of anything that would stretch me more (either mentally or physically!)
A few G&T’s later, with some shameless egging on from the other half, and entry to ‘Rat Race’s The Wall’ was secured – a 69 mile ultra-run from Carlisle to Newcastle.
3 years later and my wall is decorated with not one, but two “The Wall” medals, along with a plethora of others:
2 x 40 miles
13 x 50km (can you tell it’s my fav distance?)
4 x Marathon
9 x Half marathon
9 x 10km
1 x 10 miles
1 x 25km
1 x 50 miles
3 x 16 miles
2 x Fan Dance
And, for good measure, 8 x Tough Mudder headbands!
But better than that, a genuine love for and appreciation of running…something I never thought would happen. I’ve lost weight; rediscovered my love of the outdoors; run in places I never would have seen; been happier, healthier; and genuinely pushed and challenged myself. It’s not always been easy – I’ve DNF’d at races or limped to the finish; but it’s all been worth it.
Let me put it out there – I’m not fast. My marathon PB doesn’t start with a 3, or even a 4. My goal for this year is to bring my 10k down to sub-1 hour. I’m no elite athlete and would describe myself as more tortoise than hare.
But I’m out there, lapping everyone who is still on the couch. And Runnerverse is my way of giving back - helping other people get the same buzz and enjoyment I’ve got out of it, whether they’re the tortoise or the hare or anything in between.
