We are running the Great South Run to raise much needed funds for Leesland C of E Junior School's swimming pool refurbishment.

Claire Wilson (Executive Headteacher) and Kate Bolton (Assistant Headteacher for Inclusions) are running the Great South Run on 22nd October 2017 to raise funds towards the swimming pool refurbishment project.

Our school swimming pool is used by hundreds of Gosport children every week - Leesland children, pupils from other local schools and lessons through Aqua Academy.

Other than fundraising initiatives and fees for hiring out the pool, Leesland receives no external funding for the upkeep of the pool.  It is in desperate need of a new roof as well as some other refurbishment work.

Swimming is a vital life skill for everyone, especially in Gosport where we live so close to the sea.  Without the refurbishment to the pool, it is likely to close in the next few years.  This would be a huge loss to Leesland and the wider community who benefit from the use of this great local facility.

The school has already raised almost £63,000 through fundraising and pledges from local organisations.  Our initial target is £80,000 but funds in excess of this will allow us to improve facilities even further.

Got an idea like this?

Our crowd has raised over £70 million for bright ideas and good causes.
