Recently my best buddy, furry friend and adventure companion needed an operation to remove three cysts. I was advised by a vet that they were concerned the lumps could be cancerous because the pre-operation test had come back inconclusive. As I always want the best for my awesome furry dude so I went ahead with operation. As Rufus has been continually insured for 6 years so I thought this would not be an issue.
However my insurance company PetPlan have refused to pay. Their reason behind this refusal is that Rufus has had lumps removed as puppy so they will not cover them again; even though he has life long condition insurance which I have paid for 6 years. When challenged they stated they can refuse to cover any lifelong conditions they wish and do not view lumps os/cysts/abscesses as lifelong conditions but rather one off illnesses which reoccur so they can choose not to cover them again!
This has left me with a bill of £1079.22 which the vets have given me 28 days to pay.
As a mental health nursing masters student I currently have placement where I work a 40 hour week for FREE, and am only able to work additional weekend or night shifts.
Anyone who knows me knows how important Rufus is to me and how hard I've been working to complete my Masters but this news is close to breaking me as cannot physically earn this money in time frame and will face potential legal action.
As you can see from the pictures Rufus is my whole world and I will do anything to keep him happy and healthy, so I have swallowed my pride and started this crowd funder. I hate that I've had to resort to asking people for money when times are so hard and our collective future seems so uncertain. If you could donate anything Rufus and I would be eternally grateful, even just sharing this plea with your friends, anything to help would be truly wonderful.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart just for taking the time to read this. We wish you all the luck in the world.
