In December 2017 Alan Bustin-Mulkern and his rowing partner will departing La Gomera in the Canary Islands to row the 3000 miles to Antigua in the Caribbean.
When they will be participating in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, as a pair. This incredible journey will be a real test of strength and willpower to ensure its success. Travelling 3000 miles powered by Oar!
While doing this we will be raising an amazing £100,000 for the ABF The Soldiers' Charity to enable them to continue their great work.
The ABF The Soldier's Charity gives a lifetime of support to soldiers and former soldiers from the British Army, and their immediate families, when they are in need. They make grants to individuals through their Regiments and Corps and support a wide range of specialist charities that sustain the British Army ‘family’, both at home and around the world.
Additionally we will be partnering with a number of local Primary Schools and youth groups (scouts, etc), working with them, and using the journey and our equipment as learning tools to bring the ocean and the seas to life. Covering subjects from Bio-Diversity and the effects of Global Warming, and including the application of the technology that will help us on our crossing. This will culminate in live Q & A sessions from the middle of the Ocean during our epic journey!
How You Can Help!!
Do you want to become part of this amazing endeavour? Do you want to join us on our journey?
WE HOPE SO!!!!!
There are opportunities for individuals, families, micro-businesses and groups of colleagues can join our team to help power us across an Ocean!!
For £100 and above, your names or logos will be printed and put on the boat so that we will see them everyday while we are rowing, this will help remind us of the faith and belief you have in our project and provide us with the strength needed as we row those 3000 miles!
The money raised as part of this crowdfunding campaign will be directly ring-fenced, and allocated for the purchase of our boat and equipment - this is the most critical inventory item for our success. Not only to get us across the North Atlantic, but also as the most exciting learning resource for engaging with the children as part of our youth group engagement programme in local schools and youth groups to bring the whole subject to life!!
Once the Challenge is completed the boat, and all the equipment will be sold and the money from that sale, will be donated directly to the charity.
ONE donation, THREE benefits. The first helping us get ot the start line, the second helping us use our journey to work with children and youth groups and the third is to maximise the amount of funding received by the ABF The Soldiers' Charity.
