The idea of Rounds came about from the increasing demand for less plastic and less waste in recent years, along with a push towards local artisan produce to support local communities.
We aim to help customers ease into a reuse and refill eco lifestyle by offering zero waste products and any products we are not able to avoid packaging we commit to off-setting our carbon footprint through the planting of trees, which we hope will not only contribute to reducing Rounds carbon footprint but also the customers and suppliers too.
We will be working together with organisations to help plant the trees but also involving local communities by planting usable public woodland and orchards where possible and when financially viable or land can be donated.
Many of the suppliers we are working with are award winners in their fields respectively. Most might be aware that Yorkshire, in particular, is known for producing some of the best produce in the UK, if not the world for some products.
We hope to bring these amazing people and businesses to your door for your convenience and of course help reduce our carbon footprint with almost all of our suppliers being based within Yorkshire and the Tees Valley, and with 1 single van doing the Rounds, we hope to remove the need for the odd short trips to the shops, helping to reduce car use for our customers by 1000's of miles every month.
Each customer that pre registers and orders through Crowdfunder, we are offering a Welcome Hamper with a few extra goodies for the support, including 10% off the first order and what we hope you will appreciate the most is to be immortalised on our flagship van with your name as the founding supporters of Rounds, not to mention that each month every subscriber receives a Booster Hamper along with their regular Hamper which includes products such as cooking oil and treats, each customer locks in a regular no obligation visit to their home every 2 weeks including the visit to deliver the hampers.
The Idea of providing cooking oil goes with the business model of Reuse, Refill. Our first aim was to provide all everyday products that are traditionally always in plastic packaging such as, cereal, pasta, rice, cooking oil, cleaning liquids and bathroom products (cereal, pasta, and rice is on hold for the time being until more research into placing the gravity fed dispensers in a van and space available has been carried out). The cooking oil is important because oil is often the one thing people struggle to dispose of correctly. We will be looking to collect the oil from the customer on each attendance and reusing the oil for Bio Diesel.
The part about me, the part I try to avoid if I'm honest.
Why me? Why Rounds?
Please don't take this as a sob story attempt, it's just my life and why I am starting Rounds.
On the 15/01/2017 my son James was born, in June 2017 family proceedings started, 22 months later, 5 months after social services searched for 2 days to find my son bring him to me due to him being in the presence of domestic violence, court was over and I gained full custody and to be completely honest things didn't get much easier, it has been a struggle. In the 4 years since James was born I worked cleaning ovens and toilets at 6am, worked for a housing association (contract), a groundworks company (contract), Tesco warehouse and odd jobs if I could get it.
I've had 1 goal in life since my son was born and that was to give him the best possible life I can and so far it hasn't quite worked out.
James has some difficulties and struggles in school, he gets 1 on 1 support, can only attend for 1 and a half hours and is in the process of diagnosis for alcohol fetal syndrome and spectrum although he is a happy, loving, caring little boy, there doesn't seem to be any easy solution for us both. I want to work, I want to provide a life for him, but he has restricted time in school, no other childcare available and the job center are threatening to sanction what little money I get if I don't find a 40 hours a week job. Gods honest truth, if I could then I would. I had already attended business training and funding meetings prior to the Covid outbreak last year then funding options basically disappeared with the economy at the time.
That's where Rounds comes in, before James was born I previously had a business and always had an entrepreneurial ambition in life, but at this point in my life there is a whole new determination to succeed and provide. Both James and I will be doing the Rounds daily, after all he is the brains and the beauty behind the business, but this isn't a get out jail free card, he won't be relying on the success of the business I want to instill in him that hard work creates reward, not entitlement and I want him to follow his own path in life. This business is to give him the means to follow his dreams and that is why Rounds WILL succeed.
The money will be spent on predominantly stock, followed by van leasing initial payment and insurance, business premises initial payment, warehousing solutions and software.
The crowdfunder is to cover the start up costs and we expect to be covering all further costs ourselves there on out.
We are also keeping the prices as low as possible with most of the items at retail price so you won't pay anymore for the product delivered to your door.
Baring in mind though that we are an Eco Initiative Business and some products do come with a little extra cost to offset the carbon footprint and impact of plastic packaging, this is a very small amount talking in pence not pounds, thankfully.
Please visit the site and have a look over what we have to offer.
