Amber Sinclair and her team are crowdfunding for a major project that will bring live music directly into local rural areas. The Rock School Bus is exactly that: a fully equipped mobile music facility that acts as a rehearsal and performance space for participants to learn and play an instrument or sing as part of a band. In the South Holland area of South Lincolnshire, there are few musical opportunities. But not anymore!
With your help, Amber’s project can visit rural communities and educational establishments in South Lincolnshire and surrounding rural areas, engaging young people in creating awesome live music.
Our rural communities have been isolated for so long due to COVID restrictions, when they were already cut off from access to quality music experiences due to social, economic constraints and poor travel infrastructure in the South Holland area. But Charity MIND say they have ‘strong evidence for the link between music and mental wellbeing’ so those young people now suffering from feelings of loneliness, frustration and hopelessness will be able to get access to live music experiences that build positivity, resilience, and interaction with other young people, while safely socially distanced, thanks to the Rock School Bus's innovative design.
In their individually protected instrument station on the Rock School Bus, small groups of young people will learn and practise some legendary rock and pop anthems and perform them alongside the professional musicians on board. The musicians support every participant to get the best outcome ensuring a great sound, sense of achievement, and development of skills.
Amber has already started the project by purchasing the double-decker bus which is currently being modified. It will provide a mobile space, and facilities to be utilised in many ways. Primarily the modification involves creating a fold-down exterior stage unit, set into the framework of the near-side structure, a 24v charger, and control circuit, 240v protected ring main circuit to upper and lower decks with USB capability sockets, removal of the majority of seating, LED lighting throughout, and logo graphics. An ARTS Council Grant has been applied for but more is needed.
The Rock School Bus project is due to start after Easter – but more funding is required to get the bus equipped and ready to rock 'n' roll! This is where YOU can help. Amber and her team are offering you a LIMITED EDITION vinyl STAR to be included on the design of the bus with your name on it when you donate £50 to this amazing cause. The money raised will purchase the instruments, equipment, and in-built sound system that we need to create the ultimate Rock School experience! You will also receive a ‘Rock School Bus’ t-shirt, an invitation to the official launch event where you can try it out for yourself (if government restrictions make it possible), and a 50% off voucher for an individual instrument lesson with one of the musicians. If you choose to be one of the 200 people to donate, we will be able to get the show on the road and rock up to your local community as soon as this Spring!
Go on, do it! Click on the donate button and become part of the Rock School Bus's success. Share this page with your friends, your boss, your family, your neighbours, everyone you know. Donate today to ensure our most vulnerable and isolated young people can get access to the activities they have been longing for, for so long.
