Richard and Elsa want to buy some woodland

We hope to raise as much as possible to buy some woodland where we aim to construct living means and learn to become self-sufficient.

Unfortunately, this project was not successful

We’re not usually pretentious people BUT… we have decided we’re tired of being restricted by money, jobs and the general expectations you have to fulfil in modern society. Often we don’t even realise these expectations. You’re expected to get up in the morning, go to work, buy food products you rarely know how were acquired, produced or reared; you’re expected to use money, have a self-styled version of you on the internet and to be productive in a financially centred way. But why does being productive have to involve study, or finance or making new friends at work? What if we could just get back exactly what we put in…ie. be self-sufficient as much as possible.

We have decided we’d like to experiment living differently - without taxes, without money (as far as that is possible) and without shops.

Our plan is to buy some woodland and try and live off the land as much as we can; growing vegetables, building our own dwelling and maybe even catching a couple of rabbits (if we’re lucky!).

We have found a plot of woodland halfway between Sidmouth and Seaton in East Devon that we will be viewing this week. It may not be ideal but we will keep searching until we find the perfect spot. The paradox is of course…money. We need to get money to buy the means to live without it. This is where we need your help.

If you could help us buy this plot of land we will start a blog, upload pictures and try and show the public our progress.

Please help us and we promise you will get something back too.
