Set up of a Zero Waste shop in either Melksham or Trowbridge, Wiltshire.

by Jess Weston in Steeple Ashton, Wiltshire, England

I have a vision to open a plastic free shop in Melksham or Trowbridge, Wiltshire. Online I stock cloth nappies,  wax wraps for covering food, cloth sanitary pads, and stainless steel straws. I would love to expand this to things such as drinking bottles and shampoo bars. I would also like to offer dry food produce in a weigh and save style with no plastic packaging. However, currently with very little disposable income this is unfortunately not possible.

Most people like to see what they’re buying before they go ahead with a purchase and I’d love to offer nappy demonstrations in the shop as part of my other business the 'Trowbridge Cloth Nappy Library' and chat about your journey to low-zero waste. Everyone knows what single use plastics are doing to our planet and I’m just one person who wants to help others make a difference.

I’m asking for £10,000 which will cover some rent on a small shop front, kit it out with the equipment I need and buy in some new stock in response to what people need. I can not afford to do this without the crowd funding so this is an all or nothing plea to start something special in your community.

Even the smallest amount would help massively on this journey to encouraging more people to become zero waste!
