Resurface a 150 year old Crown Green
We did it
On 21st August 2018 we successfully raised £160 with 5 supporters in 28 days

To help pay for a professional groundsman to resurface the bowling green with grass

by Stephan Alsop in Stockport, England, United Kingdom

Current state of playing surface

As can be seen from the project image there is virtually no grass on the playing surface.

A bowling green should have a grass surface and as we don't have the machinery or the knowledge to carry out the work we need to bring in a specialist contractor.

Reason for funding

The quotes for the work are well over our available funds.  We need to complete this work before next season so we can attract new members to keep the club alive. Your help through crowd funding will help us reach our target.

"But What Is Bowling " I hear you say.

Crown green bowling is a non-contact sport - a sport for all including those with disabilities. A sport the whole family can take part in. There are different levels, social, club and county so you decide at what level you wish to participate. Bowling is for the community,

Bowling lesson for two

A 15 minute bowling lesson followed by a one hour taster session. No need to worry about bowls, we can provide suitable bowls for you to use during the session. Please note that only flat footwhere is allowed on the green. These sessions will start in April 2019 and are held on most Saturdays.
