ASKI has been delivering services in Croydon since 2012 we are a registered charity that is managed by a small staff team along with volunteers from the local community. Covid-19 has seen a significant rise in isolation as well as the number of people seeking support to access services. Over the last year we have delivered in excess of 5800 melas to older people living in food and fuel poverty. Our idea is to set up a Hub from our community Cafe that will not only support older people in 'need' but one that welcomes the wider local community to volunteer and support oder people in the local community.
Following consultation amongst older people in the area we wish to:
- Provide weekly cafe for older men and women in Thornton Heath
- Reduce isolation amongst older people
- Reduce food and fuel poverty
- Reduced the increase isolation caused by COVID-19
