The Wellbeing Project is centred on the Wellbeing Cafe, which is being developed in our church premises. This will give us a contemporary comfortable space to host many of the project’s activities including supporting education programmes promoting cultural solidarity, social justice and creation care. We will also run regular Cafe nights, aimed specifically at young people and students.
If successful, our grant will go towards the refurbishment of our very outdated and unwelcoming toilet facilities and coffee bar. Being in the heart of one of the most deprived areas of England (with high levels of income deprivation, multi-generational loneliness, child poverty and social exclusion),we want to set up our Wellbeing Café in our community church as a safe space of care, love, freedom, creativity and justice in our community where our actions nurture wellbeing, wholeness and human flourishing by offering a range of resources to help people find wholeness, healing anf fullness of life by addressing contemporary issues including divorce and bereavement recovery, relationship enrichment, parenting, financial & domestic management (‘life skills’), addiction recovery, and other mental and emotional health needs. On the back of a burgeoning track record for effective community engagement built on credibility and trust, we are developing a brand new Wellbeing Café to further reach out into the diverse and multi-deprived community as we are confident we can lead groups and individuals towards increased emotional, material and spiritual health thus reducing loneliness, social exclusion and despair
