Releaf Marlow is a community tree planting project run by community group Transition Town Marlow and supported by Marlow Town Council. Our aim is to substantially increase the number of trees in our town.
This appeal for funds is to help us plant about 60 trees in winter 2020/21 at up to eight locations (see our Facebook page for details). Donations will enable us to purchase the equipment needed, including saplings, stakes, ties, manure and water pipes. They will also help us attract funding from other sources.
Trees add beauty to the urban environment and support nature. Some areas of Marlow have lots of trees but others do not. Overall tree canopy covers only 19% of Marlow, quite low compared with the most advanced towns.
We work closely with Buckinghamshire Council and other landowners as well as tree experts to secure permissions and safety clearance, and to ensure the right tree is planted in the right position.
Releaf Marlow also welcomes members of the community to join tree planting days, and to adopt young trees in their own neighbourhoods.
Initially we are aiming to plant trees on Highways land near to roads. Over time we aim to expand our focus to include treeless areas of public open spaces and countryside hedgerows.
