As the average age for marriage continues to rise, more and more men and women are losing hard earned savings and assets created before they tied the knot. Including what they may have inherited on the death of parents or been given.
This can nullify financial planning and leave them and their children vulnerable for the rest of their lives.
By changing marital law so what you bring into a marriage stays yours on separation, means and end to this threat. It will also stop ‘predatory marriages’, protect families, allow older parents to make financial contributions to help their children but most importantly, encourage individuals to further their education, careers and business without fear of later loss.
This proposal is not about protecting the wealthy against potential gold diggers, it’s about recognising contribution in this day and age no matter how big, small or sentimental so that we can create a fairer starting point for the division of assets upon divorce.
But in order to for the government to respond to our plea, we need 10,000 signatures. Please be one them and pass it on if not for you, then for the next generation.
