5 September 2016 sees the launch of the first ever Redbridge Children's Literary Festival. The Festival will run at the Kenneth More Theatre in Ilford throughout the October half term week 24-29 October 2016. The idea for the Festival came from a stint of volunteering at the recent brilliant Brentwood Children's Literary Festival. The Festival will be a combination of authors talks, illustration/writing workshops and storytelling in the fantastic surroundings of the Kenneth More Theatre, Ilford. The Festival is being produced independently by Jack Productions in assocation with the KMT and is being supported by the Ilford Recorder.
Our aim is to involve as many Redbridge children and young people as possible in exploring the joy and pleasure of reading and storytelling. There will be sessions throughout the week covering a whole range of topics and subjects all aimed at encouraging young people to read books and use their imagination to its fullest. The programme is still being finalised but you will see from our website www.redbridgelitfest.org that our exciting plans are well underway.
The Festival is not in receipt of any local authority or governmental funding (it is hoped that our first year will be such a success that it will become an annual event) and we are approaching individuals to ask for their support.
Our aim is to keep the cost of each session to a maximum of £3 per participant to ensure as many young people as possible are able to take part. We cannot do this without support and sponsorship. We really are appealing to the generosity and spirit of local people and the business community to ensure that the very first Redbridge Children's Literary Festival is a huge success and continues to go from strength to strength in future years.
We do hope that you feel able to support us in some way.
