As a member of The Zuri Project Uganda we work with a partnership charity called Opportunity Africa based in the village of Kihembe. It is here where our entire project ideas are born, designed by the community themselves. We don't tell people what projects they should develop and we don't encourage them to do things that are not in keeping with their values and their vision for the development of their own community. By facilitating projects that are truly locally led and providing local jobs, we have found that people are wholly invested in the project process, and the positive impact that our projects have had on the lives of people in Uganda has been very real indeed.
However less than a week ago the weather destroyed the deplicated classrooms at Kishunju Primary School knocking down the walls and blew off the roof, when the children were still inside. Fortunately, nobody was injured or died, but things could have been so much worse. The children are currently being taught in a variety of environments that the teachers can provide so as not to disturb their education.
I am asking you if you can spare anything to put towards our cause to rebuild Kishunju. If you would like to donate, your money will give the community team hope that they can build permanent classrooms at Kishunju, to ensure that nothing like this will ever happen again. Thank you in advance for your kindness.
