Hello there! My name is Rebecca Ellis and I’m a twenty three year old, dog loving, loud music enthusiast, who takes portrait photographs for a living.
In November 2019 I completed the Women In Business NI Yes You Can Program, which has given me a kickstart as a female entrepreneur. However, business comes with a cost and in order for me to update equipment and launch my full time photography studio, I decided to apply for the Back Her Business Competition.
I hope to launch in January 2020.
They say that photography is the art of capturing memories and moments, so when my Granny Violet passed away without warning on New Years Day 2009 and we had no recent photographs of her ~ I realised that something had to change.
I’ve always been incredibly fond of film, cameras and in general photography. It was as if I was born to take portraits (or so my parents say). Moving forward I want to ensure that no family goes without having an annual family picture ~ because we don’t realise how important people are until they are gone.
I want to make the camera shy, step out of their session smiling because they know how amazing they are. I want to listen to stories and capture them for people.
Ulster Bank funding will allow me to do so.
At present I am a one man band. I would love to hire an assistant further down the line, who will work closely with me on each session.
As Ulster Bank have launched their Back Her Business initiative, I am hoping that I will be successful in my crowdfunding journey and achieve the goals set out by Rebecca Ellis Photography. The money I raise will be used to purchase new equipment, market my business and buy materials. It will also help me complete my photography studio set up.
