New stretch target

Wow, amazing continued support to reach our £1k target on day 2!

Weve now added a corporate pledge for local business to support our playground which gives a logo and company name space on the plaque.

the target is stretched to £2k so do encourage local business to lend their support!

we've hit our £500 target within 3 hours! Thank you all for your incredible support. Shovel and rake day will be Sat 21st May from 10am-come along and support the effort!

The sand is a temporary surface until such time that a permanent surface is installed.

We've stretched the target to £1,000 to fund future maintinence and sand so that it will always be safe and open!

Please continue to share and promote this project so we don't have to stop playing again ????

We are trying to raise £500 in one week, to buy 24 tonnes of sand to cover the playground so that it can. Local residents and Porthtowan surfboat team will then spend Saturday 21st May shovelling and raking the sand so that it can re-open in time for schools half-term!

The fanstatsic and hugely popular Porthtowan childrens' playground opened with new equipment in August 2013. However, recent sea winds have blown away much of the sand making the surface dangerously compact and shallow. As a result, a week before half-term the playground has had to close for safety reasons.

Local residents and the Porthtowan surfboat club have shovelled over 8 tonnes of sand throughout the park but it is still not deep enough to allow kids to play safely. We are trying to raise funds to buy the 24 tonnes of sand needed to cover the playground surfacing.

More long-term surfacing is being planned in conjunction with local councillors, but this is expected to take at least 6 months, local residents agree it would be a real shame to see it empty during this time.
