I am asking for your support to re-elect me as Member of Parliament for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath in the upcoming General Election – an election which will undoubtedly define the future not just for this generation, but also for generations to follow.
It has been the greatest privilege of my life to represent the people of Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath. Little did I know what lay ahead when I won the seat for Labour in the snap 2017 General Election, but since then I have been fighting for this constituency and standing up for everyone who lives here at every opportunity.
Mossmorran, WASPI, BiFab, the radiation at Dalgety Bay, rail services, our town centres, Universal Credit, Pension Credits and free TV licences for the over 75s, the Miners Pension Scheme, Edinburgh Airport flight paths, bank closures and bank account fraud. Whatever the issue, I have fought to make sure that your voice is heard. And that your voice counts.
But while these are the high-level local issues, I have been working hard with my team to deliver real results for people across the constituency every single day. Surgeries every week in my constituency office, fortnightly advise sessions across the constituency. I have made myself as accessible as possible and I wish to thank the thousands of you who have contacted me, to those whom I have worked with and who have put their faith and trust in me.
But I have more to give. I want to ensure we deliver a Labour Government so that we can transform the lives of thousands of people in this constituency. A real living wage of £10 per hour from age 16. Scrapping the cruel system of Universal Credit, removing the need for food banks and addressing the root causes of poverty, especially child poverty, that has blighted our communities for far too long. Addressing a climate challenge and delivering on our Green Industrial Revolution, bringing quality jobs to Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath which will once again offer hope and aspiration for the generations to come.
Since that result in the wee small hours of 9 June 2017, it has been an honour to serve and I am now asking for your support again – by asking you to contribute to my campaign fund in whatever way you can. Every donation that you make will be used wisely to help get me re-elected so that together, we can continue our work in delivering real change for the people of Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath.
As a political campaign, we have to abide by electoral law. This means if you are kind enough to donate more than £50 to my campaign, your name and address will be checked against the electoral register to ensure you are eligible to donate. Your name, but not your address, will be made available to the Electoral Commission after the election.
