One year ago I left my job in nursing with a vision to set up a service to help people living with dementia and their families. Then the pandemic hit which has slowed things down for us all and put many barriers in the way.
Despite all that we have managed to build a support group which has grown slowly over the last year. This has made a huge difference for our members who previously felt isolated and suffered with loneliness. The support group has also given some respite to careers at home who can enjoy some time for themselves whilst we look after their loved ones.
My dream is now to raise enough money to provide transport for more people to access the service and take us on day trips together. We would also like to be able to support more families in the community who may need advice or support.
