Carnival was cancelled due to Covid19. We would like to raise funds for the local charitable groups that normally benefit from our event.

As you are no doubt aware due to Covid 19 the Wells Carnival Committee took the difficult decision to cancel Wells Carnival 2020.  However, not to be beaten, they dusted themselves off, regrouped at a distance, and put together Wells Virtual Carnival 2020.  We hope we have managed to bring you a little fun and laughter (and possibly a few tears through reminiscing) at this unprecedented time.

Apart from bringing entertainment to our town during Carnival week we also use it as an opportunity to raise funds for local good causes, regularly giving away iro £8k at our AGM in October. In addition, we also  provide pitches free of charge, at our various events, so local voluntary groups can boost their fundraising. 

During the past week or so we have received enquiries on how to donate towards our virtual event.   Clearly this year our costs  will be minimal, and our time is always donated.   

However, we are aware that many of the small charitable groups, within Wells-next-the-Sea, will be struggling and it would be remiss of ourselves if we didn’t do all we could to help them.  Therefore, if you have enjoyed our virtual carnival perhaps you would like to make a donation, no matter how big or small, and we will match fund up to a total of £2000 from Carnival funds.  We will then ensure that it is distributed at our AGM to the various charitable organisations within our town.  They are the life blood of our community and are there to help and support us all throughout the year, and hopefully we can help them through this difficult time.

Our good friends, Patrick & Sarah, from Black Shuck Ltd www.blackshuckltd.co.uk have very generously offered us a hamper of Black Shuck goodies plus a private tasting and tour of their distillery, for a group of up to 6 people.  Therefore, for every £5 donated, through our Crowdfund page (supporting Wells Charitable groups) from 03/08/20 until 31/08/20 incl., we will pop your details into a ‘virtual hat’.  The Crowdfund is running until the 31st August, 2020, so the winner will be contacted shortly after this date.
