We did it
On 5th February 2019 we successfully raised £310 with 15 supporters in 28 days

Radford Radio is a community project run entirely by volunteers. We aim to restore the community spirit that once existed in Plymstock.

I am the founder of Radford Radio. I underwent major heart surgery in the early part of 2018. Unfortunately, there were a number of complications which rendered me unable to return to my employment. I was left with lots of time on my hands and began thinking about how I could put it to good use. I am of an age where I am able to remember the wonderful tight-knit community that existed many years ago and began to fantasise about how I could re-build it. I decided a radio station would be an effective way of providing a platform for the community to start communicating again and that chat shows, interviews, outside broadcasts and promoting local events would be a large part of our role. We launched from a small caravan on November 5th 2018 and now boast a 25 strong team of local volunteers. We have a very healthy ethics policy and have links with the church. We use our facility to inform, educate and entertain a population of 25000 potential listeners across the Plymstock community. We are also indirectly reaching listeners in mainland Europe, USA and Australia. Many of whom are former Plymstock residents who have found a way of maintaining a link with their roots. Costs are unfortunately quite significant. We have to find the cost of licencing, internet, electricity, insurances, server fees, website, music applications etc etc. The list is almost endless. We would appreciate even the smallest of donations to our project and would like to thank all contributors with great anticipation. Thank you.
