We know that some children need extra academic support in the summer. Research shows that children lose one third of what they have learnt during the summer holiday. In September, teachers spend up to 6 weeks re-capping what kids have forgotten. This is more pronounced with children from low income families. Also, during term time, children and young people learn things based on the national curriculum and there’s little time to have fun or to work at the pace that best meet their needs.
Knowledge and practice is what is needed to redefine the summer learning experience for children. We offer free coaching to children in need of additional academic support. We want to:
- Develop children’s potential
- Improve their confidence in public speaking
- Nurture their reasoning skills
Our free summer sessions are led by Teaching Fellows who are supervised by fully qualified, experienced and DBS checked Teaching Coaches. The team are passionate about engaging children in projects based on their own questions and ideas. Creative and fun activities are at the heart of our teaching.
WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE is a not for profit organisation offering free mentoring educational coaching to children who have not been able to attain their academic standard or want to work towards achieving their next target. We want to provide opportunities to both.
