We are creating an immersive dinner opera where the audience comes as guests to the wedding of Orfeo and Euridice. The ceremony is followed by a reception with canapes, bowl food and sparkling wine, all accompanied by music from the orchestra, during which the happy couple enjoy their first dance. When Euridice leaves to change her outfit she is tragically killed, Orfeo is plunged into mourning and the opera begins. Dancers and chorus are disguised as guests, the priest sings the role of Amore, the reception is transformed into the underworld, everything happens in and amongst the audience and so, with dinner included and a fully dramatised performance of the relatively short but magnificent Orfeo ed Euridice by Gluck right there in front of them, it promises to be a great night out for opera lovers and novices alike.
Once created, this show will be adaptable to fit any place where a wedding reception could take place and, with the current popularity of immersive events combined with the obvious convenience of food and drink as part of the show making it the perfect night out, it will hopefully expose more people to the wonderful experience that is Opera.
All money raised will go towards the costs of making this a fully polished professional production with set, props and costumes.
