We have been leased an abandoned allotment site by the local authority and are working towards returning it to usable allotment in two years

by Amanda Barrie in Wolverhampton, England, United Kingdom

We are a group of local people who have come together with a vision to return tan abandoned allotment site to community use with individual allotments, a community garden and a tea room. The site is currently overgrown and has been used by people to dump large pieces of debris. It has not been used as allotments for more than 30 years.

Our first step is to have a drive way for vehicular access. We will then be able to get machinery onsite to clear tree roots, level the land and set out plots for allotment holders. We will also need running water and possibly electricity on the site. This is a two year project to return the site to accessible allotments. We will then be granted a 25 year lease to continue to manage the site as local allotments and community garden.
