14th May 2015Quick Look - What are we doing?
What will be achieved at the end of it?
A Cost per tonne price for our 2009 project + 10 people publicising Ten Carbon Cutting Pledges = Delivery to United Nations Conference
*For example: We ask those who did the 2009 Ten Carbon Cutting Pledges what they did, work out the carbon saved, divide it up by the cost of the project (£6k) = Whole Project saved *600 tonnes of carbon, project cost would be £10 per tonne or 300 tonnes, cost would be £20 per tonne.
What was the earlier campaign?
In 2009, over 4 months, at the cost of £6k, we asked loads of people in Cornwall to do any of the Ten Carbon Cutting Pledges, for example:
Pledge Two
I pledge to buy local seasonal produce as much as possible – starting with at least 2 meals a week
4488 pledges were made
What will the research entail?
Asking all those who ticked the boxes to do 4488 pledges what they did and working out as best we can how much carbon they saved.
£2.5k is allocated for that.
£2.5k is allocated to approach 10 people in Cornwall to do the Ten Carbon Cutting Pledges for six months, publicly and share how easy it is.
We will then inform Global Leaders attending the United Nations conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP21).
We are looking to calculate the carbon cost of our campaign in order to show to COP21 delegates that behavioural change can provide an effective strategy for achieving carbon reduction targets. We also want to show that they can compete with risky and more expensive technology such as Carbon Capture and Storage.
To make this happen we need your help.
