I am a racing driver with disabilities who has also been diagnosed with malignant prostate cancer. I am aiming to have one last blast at racing and doing so in support of the charity Prostate Cancer UK. As the rallycross races are televised the car livery will reach a big audience. At the same time I can help raise awareness of this terrible disease on race days, which pre-covid get attended by 10k spectators. I will be giving out information in the pit area and at the same time helping raise funds for the charity.
Once I get to the stage where I can't physically race any longer, then the race car will be auctioned and the proceeds given to the charity to fund future research.
Racing however is not a cheap sport and I need to raise funds to complete the race car build and enter the races.
So far I have raised £6000 in the form of sponsorship and race parts. Julian Godfrey Engineering are building the engine free of charge, Julian himself is 6 times national rallycross champion. MJR Motorsports will be helping set up suspension, the company is owned by Martin Roy who was the late Ayrton Senna's F1 technician. Other support comes from Caged Laser Engineering, AS Performance Ltd and Ford Family Car Sales.
I still need to raise £15,000 to complete the race car, and around the same again to complete the first season.
