The only hope of getting a government truly representative of the people is through a change in the outdated and undemocratic First Past the Post system.

Helen Rushby 20th December 2019

Democracy in this country is broken. We must find a way to fix it and PR is a significant part of the solution, along with a written constitution and enforced standards for politicians.

Suzanne Airey 20th December 2019

We urgently need electoral reform ... this will support movement towards a more representative democracy for the many and not the few. And end tactical voting - which does not work.

Chris West 20th December 2019

Waiting for proportional representation in UK for 40 years. I remember the joy of that first EU election done by stv, numbering the boxes 🙂

I believe proportional representation will allow the smaller parties to gain the power they deserve and it will prevent the major parties, who, in each case, do not represent the majority of opinion from hogging the power. The counter argument that it would lead to coalitions that get nothing innovative done does not hold as more on climate change measures, for example, are more likely to be made when the smaller parties have representation in proportion to the numbers who vote for them

Having a true and representative voting system in the U.K. that reflects society is in my mind the most important issue in this country today . Votes should and must match MPs seats . It’s time for change it’s time for PR .
