Earlier this year I wrote and self-published my memoir, Awakened. It's about my struggle with work-related mental health issues and how I recovered from three breakdowns due to jobs in the legal and teaching professions. I share how I found my passion and purpose in writing, and how I broke free of the system to become self-employed.
The book also discusses my spritual awakening, and how depression led me to become interested in holistic therapies and spirituality. I founded a Facebook group called Let's Get Spiritual, where people who are new to the spiritual path can get advice and support. I also recently started the Stay Sane At Work project, which aims to raise awareness about work-related mental health. I'm developing a website and a Youtube channel, and there's also a Facebook group where people can get help and support.
This crowdfunding campaign is to cover the costs of promoting the book over a four month period, with a view to launch the book on World Mental Health Day on October 10th. My aim is to find a publisher so that the book reaches a bigger audience, and helps as many people as possible who are struggling with work-related mental health issues.
