After six years planning, I’m able to create a retreat centre in Zambia, Africa, where we will offer health based retreats as well as local classes in permaculture and sustainability.
I’ve been based in Spain for the last two years, overseeing eco-build renovations and networking with a worldwide cadre of professionals in all kinds of retreats. It’s been interesting and challenging and I’ve learned a lot.
Now some friends have decided to retire and their place in Zambia is needing managers. I have the know-how and the connections to bring people to the area. They’ve already created an amazing eco-build lodge with thatched, rammed earth cabins, a reed filtered swimming pool and a lovely restaurant, and now it’s a bit much for them to run day to day. We’ve had phone and email communication and I’m happy to move there, but really need to be there to see the place with my own eyes and be able to make all the arrangements. I still need to pay rent and bills back home so I’m asking for the money for flights to get there and back for a week in March, to pay the flights for someone to be with my kids while I’m gone, and that’s it! All the leg work I’m doing myself.
