My name is Anaїs Kilbey I'm 18 years old and am in my final year of college studying Level 3 Public Services.
In the UK, your expected to know what you want to do as a career aged 14, when you choose what GCSEs you’re going to take, then go on to do A Levels, University and finally land in a career.
For me, I didn't have a clue what I wanted to do, and to this day I'm still unsure. After a year of thinking about what I want to do with my life, I have decided that to truly find my passion, I need to travel, see the world, experience different cultures and gain life experience, independently. This is a huge step for me as I haven't been out of the county without my parents before. I also struggle with hearing problems and am on the Autistic Spectrum.
In September 2019, I plan to travel to Australia. I have chosen Australia because I have Australian citizenship as my Dad is Australian, and as a first time away it seems like a relatively safe country. It has some amazing sights to see, beaches to surf and is English speaking. I am going over with the help of a travel company called Global work and travel, who offer advice and will help to set up a job when I arrive. I hope to stay there for about 6 months to 1 year.
Though my parents are supporting me and I am saving up, I will struggle to save enough money to cover my time away from home, costs such as travel insurance, flights, food, accommodation and transport. (A one-way flight alone is estimated to cost about £900!).
This is where any money raised through this wonderful platform will be spent.
I would be so grateful for any donations, no matter how big or small.
Many thanks in advance!
