Three Trees Community Centre has been a part of Chelmsley Wood for over a decade. We provide activities do all ages and abilities and we are always looking for ways to develop ourselves and the community.
We are looking at improving our garden and outdoor space, especially the part that is accessed by a group with physical and mental diabilities.
With the addition of the wild garden, we are aiming to improve the quality of outdoor spaces not just at Three Trees, but within the area. The added space will also increase the possible outdoor activities we can host, we have already spoken to a carpenter who will run workshops for the community and we have had stone carvers and painting groups run groups regularly at our centre in the past. The garden really will create a whole new creative dynamic to a part of our centre that didn't get much use.
We know this is needed and wanted by the community because we have always had an open dialogue with one another. Community groups and individuals have asked about outdoor spaces for a long time, especially during the lockdown when only outdoor activities were allowed.
We also know that the support group for adults with mental and physical disabilities have wanted better access to the garden and a nice outdoor space, immediately outside their window. We will be clearing the side of the building and implementing a path so they have easy access in and out of the garden and to the back entrance of their room.
We have had plenty of people ask about providing more creative activities which with this space we definitely can, we will have painting, stone-carving, woodworking, the messier the better really.
