We in our beloved Great Britain changed the World, mostly for the better and our inventions, discoveries and amazing building, railways, bridges etc. really were breathtaking in genius. So pleased that my little donation can save this iconic and beautiful bridge, love it (and its steel kerbstones) amazing!
I was raised in Ironbridge, it was the perfect place to grow up and the iconic bridge permeates my childhood memories. My parents fell in love with the village and decided to settle (and stay) there, despite its distance from my father's place of work. They were married in St Luke's church, overlooking the bridge, and I followed suit in May last year. We had our photographs on, and in front of, the bridge. For me it not only symbolises the industrial revolution and engineering innovation but epitomises "home". Preserving the bridge, and our history, is so important and the generosity which people are showing is simply incredible.
We visited Ironbridge to try the Pork Pies at Eley's with a view to ordering their wedding cake for our December wedding. We were wowed by the beautiful Iron Bridge and the Pork Pies. Very happy to help preserve it and will think of it while eating Pork Pie on our wedding day. Best of luck x
Keith (my late husband) and I used to walk across the bridge and eat ice cream together. Happiest of memories and so I'm pleased to be able to help. Best wishes to all supporters Elizabeth
Great idea and pleased to be able to help, with a small contribution. It's so important to preserve an icon of Britain's inventive and industrious past ; at a time when Engineering was recognised as being a most admirable vocation which was to generate much of Britain's past wealth. Thankfully, In 2017, there are glimpses of efforts by the government to rebuild our industries....and some may even be British owned....hopefully.
