Thanks for looking at my page.
I'm looking to keep some honey bees in Argyll
- To maximise the pollination of fruit and vegetables for all those folks here trying to grow their own, hoping to escape their dependency on supermarkets and get back to local trade, and reduce their global food footprint.
- To protect honeybees—at risk due to climate change, agricultural and gardening methods, pests and diseases.
I'm hoping to raise £1040 which would be spent on the following:
2 x WBC Hive starter kits. @£395each
1 x colony of local bees £250
I am a new member of Scottish beekeeping and have joined Glasgow beekeepers which is an active group of like minded people who can support and advise on this venture. In addition to this I have identified 3 local mentors with 90years collective experience in beekeeping who are willing to lend and hand and help me troubleshoot.
My husband and I have acquired a wee plot of land on which the bees will be kept and we have a long term plan to develop the area for education and sanctuary.
Without crowd funding, realistically, this project is 2years away for me. But I thought I'd give this a try, because there is such an urgent need for more immediate action which helps our planet and this important species.
I don't plan to make any money from this venture. Nor do I plan to take honey from these bees. It is theirs to thrive on. I just want to benefit their population and give a wee bit back.
Thanks so much for your support.
