Help Buy a Community Centre for London's Most Vulnerable

by Rosemarie Salmon in London, England, United Kingdom

Positive Network: Giving folks in need, what they need

They say it’s better to give than get and if you agree we need your help.

Our latest project is a brand-new Community Centre and HQ for those who need it most.  Having somewhere for the community to go to, whilst empowering our youth to be the leaders of tomorrow.

This year’s been tough for us all, and we hope you’re OK.

If like us, you’ve made it through the year with stamina left and some pennies to spare, we’d like you to join us as we think about those who didn’t fare so well.

For those who were struggling before the pandemic, things did not improve. There are folks amongst us who are right out on the raggedy edge and with the government and charities stretched paper thin, it’s up to people like us to take up what slack we can.

We’re looking for heroes to help us turn around the lives of those headed towards despair. Not all heroes have superpowers and we need brave folks like you to step up and take the strain.

So, what can we do?

Well, our plan is to give those out there on the brink an anchor.

Positive Network has already won praise from our community, indeed local social workers already recommend their clients to us because we’ve got a proven track record of helping people cope.

Our new project is a bricks and mortar community centre where folks in the area come and find some solace, some companionship, some advice or a free meal.

What we’ll offer

It will become the hub for the work we already do alongside some new projects so far these plans include:

•    Elderly daycentre

•    Culturally appropriate meals on wheels

•    Befriending service

•    Youth projects

•    Cooking classes

•    Mental health projects

•    Armchair Zumba

•    Drop-in sessions for the elderly

•    Games night

•    Film nights

•    Homework club

•    Business start ups

•    Benefits advice

What we hope to achieve

Even before the current crisis, loneliness had reached critical levels in the UK, with some elderly folks going for days without speaking to another person. Our projects will tackle problems just like this by providing a safe welcome space for anyone who needs it.

We’ll also tackle issue like social anxiety., malnutrition, poverty, poor health, rising crime, legal worries and we’ll do our best to inspire and support the young allowing the chance of a brighter future.

What we need

We know 2020 was a hard year, but if you have anything left in the piggy bank, we’re asking you to invest it in Positive Network in 2021.

We’re not looking for handouts, think of your support as an investment. You won’t see a monetary return, but your investment will in time make a tangible visual impact on the community and everyone we help will be your reward.

In return for our cash, we promise we will use your money carefully to provide a lifeline for those who need it most and we’ll write the name of every backer on our founder’s wall so everyone can see who stood up when we called.

We’re on Crowdfunder because we brits have proven ourselves to be a caring, compassionate and a considerate lot and we know that with our help we can make a Positive Impact on the lives of those who need it most.

In return for your help, we can promise you a warm and fuzzy glow knowing that this year, this tough, tough year, you stood up and stood out and put your money where your heart is, and from the deepest part of our soul we thank you for all we’re worth.

Thank you for listening and if you can spare anything you have our deepest thanks. If times are tough then, we’d still appreciate your support so if you can take a moment to share our message thank you in advance. If things are bad, then please reach out to us and let us know how we can help.
