The global COVID-19 pandemic has created a very uncertain landscape for millions of British small businesses, which is going to make it very challenging for businesses to survive. Together we can help.
Being a 2020 graduate I have found it quite difficult to gain employment in my chosen field Criminology and Criminal Justice. I have always known I want to help people and have recently thought why do it through someone else’s agency? Why not create my own?
I would like to set up a business consisting of like minded, non judgmental people to help prisoners both male and female who are coming up to release to give them a better chance of living a positive life on the outside and reduce re offending.
Having studied for three years for my degree it
became apparent that the stigma surrounding people who offend can prevent them from moving forward and so their life can spiral into a cycle of re offending. Although there are services such as probation and various charities it seems these services are stretched and some are at breaking point and so I decided to try to bridge the gap.
This service would envision speaking to prisoners, their families, local authorities and agencies and securing, with the prisoners willingness, necessities such as mental health support, housing, benefits and employment, clothing and provisions in the hope that a positive start to life on the outside will lead to a more compliant, happy life reducing re offending which would benefit us all.
Of course thewill need to be compliance from the client and my team would make regular visits or calls (due to COVID), draw up plans with them and then go ahead with the help of the clients to put plans into action.
Any contributions towards rolling out this initiative would be greatly received.
