- The village shop in Poolewe has been part of the village and community life for many years. Providing us with groceries, household essentials, a post office and jobs. Never was the shop more valued than in the current Covid-19 pandemic. The shop has been an absolute lifeline for many, we are grateful that they continue to remain well stocked and there for us, still offering their above and beyond service, keeping us connected. Wonderful!
Imagine if it closed? The shop has been on the market now for 2 years. In November 2019, a public meeting was set up and a small steering group of people interested in ways of ensuring the shop remained open was established. We are faced with many questions, how could we go about it, are grants available, enterprise funding?
Before we can apply for grants for a possible buy out, we must provide an evaluation on the 'property' The evaluation will cost in the region of £2,000. This is where crowdfunding comes in, giving the community an opportunity to take steps towards keeping our very valued shop open. Any donations will be gratefully received and contribute to realizing our goal.
